HOPE
HOPE
Weigh heavily upon my heart
Though broken, wanting and weary
I've not totally fallen apart
I sleep, I eat, I smile
And on proper occasion I sing
Though tears may fall, special times remembered
There's a whisper to which I cling
It's faint and distant, but it strongly beckons
Its grasp firmly holding my soul
As hand of a friend, long known and dear
It drags me from bottomless hole
Torn, tired and beaten, I rest now on its shore
And put faith in what life may provide
Though prayers I offer for her swift return
From new love I will not hide
